Named after the Latin word for time, the Alec Bradley Tempus is a combination of Honduran Criollo ’98 wrapper blended with Corojo and Criollo filler from the Trojes region of Honduras, just north of the Nicaraguan border. Brand owner Alan Rubin originally intended this blend to be his Maxx cigar, but was concerned with getting a consistent product from the factory.
With consistency no longer a concern, Rubin has launched Tempus, making it his first brand with the words “Alec Bradley” printed on the band. Each cigar also has a band on the foot. The Tempus, according to Rubin, was seven years in the making and built around the dark wrapper, which is one of the cigar’s defining characteristics.
Rubin sums up with: “The long period of time in developing this tobacco and cigar became a central theme in naming the cigars Tempus, Latin for ‘time’. That theme is equally a tribute to the precious little time we take for ourselves … we’ve created Alec Bradley Tempus to make the most of it.” The company’s flagship cigar, Tempus is available in 5 popular Cuban shapes: Corona 51/2 x 42, Robusto 5×50, Lancero 71/2 x 41, Churchill 7x 49 and Torpedo 6 1/8 x 52. A sixth size was recently added to the Tempus lineup — the Magistri. The Magistri is a big perfecto, measuring 6 1/2 inches long and 53 ring around its fattest point.
Cigar enthusiasts will be equally impressed with the immense flavor and complexity, and the robust but very subtle power. Tempus is full-bodied but smooth … its strength sneaks up on you.”
The Tempus Centuria was the highest scoring Tempus with a whopping 94 points. It measures 7″ x 49 and retails at $8.25. Cigar Insider described it as, “Dark and attractive with an effortless draw, this cigar produces a rich, semisweet smoke, leaving balanced impressions of wood and nuts. Big, delicious flavor. Body: Medium.” Credit to Cigar Insider |

A former importer of nuts and bolts, Alan Rubin, has long been an avid cigar smoker, and he made the move to cigars as a way to make a living from something he was passionate about, naming his cigar company Alec Bradley, after his two sons.
