Rich and full bodied, the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero line is a complex blend of robust tobaccos that lend the cigars unique flavor. Ligero is the name of a priming from the tobacco plant that provides a leaf that is dark, full bodied, and spicy. It is used in many of the famous fuller bodied cigars to give them their distinctive full flavor. So as the name suggests, the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero is a one of the fullest bodied cigars on the market.
In addition, the La Flor Domincana Double Ligero line is the birth of the original Chisel shape. The chisel is a figurado shaped torpedo with a flat had in the shape of a chisel. This unique shape is not only pleasing to smoke, but alters the blend giving it a unique complexity, not commonly found in fuller bodied cigars.

One of the first things you’ll notice about this cigar is that the cut on the cap is a little different. It might even intimidate a few. I had heard of several varying ways of cutting this cigar – punch cut over top of the head or straight guillotine cut. However, the best way of cutting this cigar was to not cut or punch it at all. What you should do with the chisel end is to take your thumb and index finger and lightly pinch both sides of the chisel, allowing it to crack ever so slightly
Appearance :

A wonderfully constructed cigar with the chisel head adding a unique dynamic to the overall body of this cigar. The wrapper looked dark, oily, and rugged. In other words, it looked potent. The veiny Ecuadorian wrapper smelled of a sweet spice, while the foot smelled like more of a peppery spice.
Construction :

The cigar construction was a thing of beauty. A flawless wrapper and beautiful chisel cap let me know I was in for a good smoke. I was immediately greeted with a great draw from the pinched chisel, welcoming me with slight notes of spice and cinnamon. Right off the bat, I got hit with a strong mixture of spice and leather. The burn on this cigar was more or less even the whole way through. I would place the strength of the cigar as full-bodied. The ash on this cigar was one of the sturdiest I have come across in a long time.
Flavor :

The first third didn’t play around. It started off in the full bodied range with a smooth pepper. There was no harshness, just a somewhat simple, powerful flavor profile. As I smoked on into the 2/3, the dominant peppery flavor was beginning to fade and a strong spiciness was taking its place. In addition to the spice, the sweet tobacco flavors were beginning to slowly build. The body was slowly moving from the middle of the full spectrum back towards the peak. The finish remained long and smooth while the draw continued to get firmer as the cigar burned.
Value :

This cigar is priced around $7.00 per stick as a single purchase, and well worth the price if you enjoy full-bodied cigars. If you enjoy a straight-forward, smooth-smoke, then you might want to look elsewhere.
Overall Rating :

Overall I think this is a fantastic cigar, but you need to really prepare yourself for the punch that it packs. I would absolutely recommend this cigar to the experienced cigar smoker that enjoys full bodied and full flavored cigars. This is a cigar that mild cigar smokers should stay far, far away from.
The LFD Double Ligero Chisel is a great, wedge-head shaped cigar that’s well constructed with a dark and streaky wrapper. One would think that the chiseled crown would hinder the draw, but it does the opposite. It smokes well and burns evenly. This is a very strong, full bodied cigar with spice and wood flavors
