Perhaps the rarest and highest rated brand in the world, OpusX has a world-renowned reputation for quality and class. It is full-bodied with a rich, robust flavor.
Arturo Fuente OpusX is one of the rarest cigars in the world. It is elusive to almost every enthusiast because of its limited production. Prior to 1990, the Dominican Republic was well know for its filler and binder tobacco. Growing wrapper tobacco on the island proved impossible due to the topography of the land and the wind. The wrapper is a vital component of any cigar as it contributes to most of the flavor.
OpusX cigars consistently receives the highest ratings from industry publications and continues to be the pinnacle of fine cigars. Almost impossible to find, this cigar is widely considered the “best of the best.” It is full-bodied and the aromas in each size are distinctly different, but the one characteristic each has in common is near perfect taste and quality. Nowhere in the world can a finer cigar be found. This cigar is referred to by aficionados as “an expensive addiction” because once this cigar makes its way into your humidor, you will never look at cigars the same way again.

“If you’re looking for a stunning pyramid with bold, full flavors, it’s hard to improve upon the Fuente Fuente OpusX. No brand in modern memory has sparked as much demand. The cigar is prized for its rare wrapper, a leaf grown under shade in the Dominican Republic.
Appearance :

The wrapper was a medium brown color with no obtrusive veins throughout the length of the cigar. It was firm with a slight oily sheen. The aroma of the cigar was light and pleasant. I used my v-cutter on the cap of the cigar and the result was a clean easy cut.
Construction :

The pre-light draw was excellent and the smoke that was produced was thick and plentiful. The cigar felt firm in the mouth and the wrapper did not fall apart. The draw was consistently smooth and effortless from the beginning to the middle all the way down to the nub.
Flavor :

The OpusX is medium to medium-to-full in flavor, and is very smooth and not at all overpowering. The flavor base was consistent all the way to the nub. There were a few times when the subtle flavors took a slight turn and teased the palate with a little spice and pepper which seemed to fade away too soon.
Burn :

The burn on the cigar was nice and slow as well as even, producing a firm light colored ash. The resting smoke was light and produced a light attractive scent that filled the room. There were some burn issues towards the middle of this cigar. Had a very hard time keeping the cigar lit which required three relights. It didn’t seem to hurt the flavor but this is not at all what one would expect from a super premium cigar.
Overall Rating :

If it wasn’t for the burn issues, the cigar would’ve been rated higher. Overall, it was a good smoke but nothing extra special. Maybe, my expectations were way too high. Value wise, there are cigars at a fraction of the cost that are on par with the OpusX. Is it a cigar you should try at least once – YES. But, it isn’t a cigar I would consider to smoke regularly.
