Ashton Heritage is one of the most exclusive brands Ashton has ever made. Debuting after the successful launch of the VSG, it combines a flavorful Cameroon wrapper over Dominican fillers.
For cigar smokers, Ashton is a household name. It is hard to look in any humidor and not see something bearing its famous logo, which symbolizes exquisite taste and quality. Rolled at Chateau de La Fuente under the watchful eye of Carlos Fuente Jr., Ashton uses the finest Dominican fillers and binders grown on the country’s most prized farm. For years, cigars grown and rolled at Chateau de La Fuente have consistently been highly rated by cigar smokers all over the world.
The Ashton Heritage debuted several years after the famed Ashton VSG hit shelves in the late 1990’s. The concept for the Heritage was to add another sought after wrapper to the Ashton portfolio. In this blend the already famous Dominican fillers and binder are combined with a rare aged Cameroon wrapper that gives this medium to full-bodied cigar a robust, rich, and tangy taste. The expert blenders at Chateau de La Fuente utilize the tobaccos in such a way that the cigar has a strong shot of flavor on the nose with a dry and medium finish.

The Ashton Heritage Puro Sol is an attractive smoke with a smooth, calm draw. The filler and binder are produced in the Dominican Republic and the wrapper is produced in Cameroon. All the tobaccos used to make this cigar are 100% sun-grown. Mellow and medium-bodied, this cigar emits notes of wood and graham cracker and has a sweet, almost buttery finish.
Appearance :

The Cameroon wrapper was a darkish, medium brown color with a few noticeable imperfections such as small indentations. It was firm to the touch with a slight sheen. The aroma of the cigar was slightly sweet and extremely aromatic. The cap of the cigar felt solid and was easy to make a clean cut.
Construction :

The pre-light draw was creamy and nice without being overwhelming. The draw was consistent throughout. The wrapper remained intact for the most part. The smoke was plentiful and the scent wasn’t overpowering and had peppery hints in it. It seemed like the small indentations tried to give it an uneven burn but eventually it stopped.
Flavor :

Although this cigar is classified as a medium bodied, it felt more like a mild to medium strength at best. There is almost no bite to this cigar, and I would recommend it to those who normally smoke only mild cigars. The relative mildness of this cigar is somewhat surprising given the fact that it is all sun-grown leaf.
Burn :

The actual burn was very consistent and the smoke was a nice gentle white-bluish tinge. The ash came out almost white and flaked a bit even when being picked up. Never had to re-light and the burn rate was perfect from beginning to end.
Overall Rating :

The Heritage Puro Sol is a smooth and tasty smoke. Although, I would’ve expected more of a punchy flavor, it was an enjoyable cigar. Found this cigar to be a bit over-priced and would only buy them on the sale rack.
