Very rare and available to only a small handful of suppliers, the La Aurora 100 Anos is one of the highest rated brands ever made. Each 100 Anos utilizes only tobacco that is grown and rolled in the Dominican Republic.
When the Dominican Republic’s oldest cigar brand turns 100 years old, you know you can expect great things. For over a century, La Aurora cigars have been gracing humidors all over the world, and with good reason. Rolled in the Dominican Republic’s oldest factory, the cigar has evolved and survived because of its reputation for consistency, quality, and value.
The La Aurora 100 Anos (100 years) pays tribute to La Aurora’s time in the business. In 2004, it was rated the 3rd best cigar for that year by Cigar Aficionado Magazine. The secret to the 100 Anos blend is in its wrapper. Growing wrapper tobacco in the Dominican Republic is nearly impossible given the agricultural difficulties, but those growers who succeed in making it, are rewarded with the most flavorful wrapper in the world.
The La Aurora 100 Anos has a Corojo seed Dominican wrapper that covers mostly Corojo fillers making it one of the worlds only cigars to use 100% Dominican Tobacco. Only 300,000 cigars were ever produced. These are among some of the rarest cigars ever made. Get them while you can.

Appearance :

This is a well rolled cigar with a slightly oily wrapper. It is very firm and oily to the touch, nicely packed, and has a torpedo-like cap that cuts cleanly with no visible stems. The draw is medium firm, the pre light exam shows earthy aromas of mature tobacco, and flavors that are spicy and rich, slightly sweet.
Construction :

The wrapper is beautiful, and the filler inside is very firm with no bumps or mushy spots. The cigar actually feels way more solid than it should, and I was nervous that the cigar would draw too tightly as a result. But the draw was perfect, and the burn was very even and incredibly slow.
Flavor :

This is a full flavor cigar from the start to end, the taste was rich and smooth to the tongue. The first thing you notice on lighting up is a “hit” of pepper and sweet spice that settles quickly into a very earthy and aromatic mix of leather and wood. The wrapper adds in flavors of coffee and a hint of cocoa. About a third of a way into the stick, it all blends into a creamy, spicy, peppery mix.
Burn :

The ash quality was firm and held about inch and half before it bent and felt into the ashtray. The smoking experience lasted about 1 1/4 hour with one relight when I put it down for a few minutes. The relight was successful and the flavor was still as I mentioned above full with a thick plume of smoke and an aroma that all cigar smokers will love.
Overall Rating :

Aside from the thoroughly enjoyable smoke, this cigar is extremely limited in quantity. This is the last batch that will ever be made for this line and even though it comes with a high price tag of $16 per stick, I highly recommend you try it. This is a true Limited Edition cigar and one of the very few cigars made with 100% Dominican tobaccos.
