You would be hard pressed to find a better value in premium cigars than the 5 Vegas line. It’s basically “recession proof.” Cask Strength II is one of the strongest 5 Vegas cigars currently available. This cigar is rolled with a dark Cuban-seed wrapper and all ligero fillers. The combination creates full flavors with notes of spice and a blend of pepper.
The term ’cask strength’ is a term single-malt scotch and malt whisky enthusiasts are familiar with. Cask strength refers to whiskies that are undiluted, usually creating a powerful bottling strength, high alcohol content, and ample character. That was the inspiration for 5 Vegas Cask-Strength and the blend lives up to the name….and then some.
Hailing from Esteli, the cigar-making capital of Nicaragua, 5 Vegas Cask-Strength II will captivate you from the get-go. Dressed in a stunning, reddish-hued Corojo wrapper from Nicaragua – one that’s dark and oozing with oils – this 6″x52 Toro is lovingly box-pressed for maximum flavor.
The 5 Vegas Cask-Strength II opens with a feisty bouquet loaded with hearty spices. An eventful opening indeed – which prepares the palate for a deep series of oak, cedar, earth, and toast. Spicy throughout with a warm, toasty aroma, expect a full-bodied and full-flavored crescendo as you gradually approach the nub.

The 5 Vegas Cask Strength II is a nicely packaged box pressed toro cigar with a pleasant, earthy pre-light aroma. The stick exhibited no veins and was oily to the touch. The firm cap made the cut easy. The initial puff unleashed it’s big bold flavors – full of spice. The Cask Strength II packs a wallop – the first puff almost takes you by surprise. Amazing taste!
The box pressed cigar sits perfectly in the mouth. Only complaint was the draw felt a little tight. But the burn was even and the silver-black ash held firm for 2 inches before tapping off. The big spice and pepper flavors blend nicely on your palate – it really makes you want to take another puff.
The draw opens up in the second third of the cigar releasing an abundance of white smoke. The flavor remains the same – bold and dominant. I would classify this as a full-bodied cigar with all of it’s big flavors although 5 Vegas has it as medium-full.
The final third of the cigar pleasantly produces lots of smoke. The draw really opened up after the initial 15 minutes. No flavor change – consistent throughout. The cap remained intact – no unraveling. A very well constructed cigar. I had no problem smoking this baby down to the nub.
Overall, I thought this was an excellent cigar. Great taste. Great price. Highly recommend this cigar for anyone seeking a full-bodied cigar with big bold flavors.
