5 Vegas Limitada 2009 Belicoso Cigar Review

5 Vegas Limitada 2009 Belicoso 5 Vegas Limitada raises the bar for every premium cigar made in the world. Only 25,000 single cigars were released for 2009.

Every year aficionados wait in anticipation for the annual release of 5 Vegas Limitada , and this year the release has become even more limited. No two blends have ever been the same, and each release is a combination of premium fillers aged at least five years. The result is a cigar comprised of tobacco from as many as five countries, making it complex, flavorful and dynamic with multiple layers of flavor with every puff.

5 Vegas Limitada 2009 is easily the strongest Limitada blend ever created. Still rolled in the belicoso size, 2009’s blend features a Dominican Corojo wrapper that is simply stunning; shining with oils and much tooth. This incredible wrapper conceals a blend, aged 6 years before even being rolled, of Dominican Piloto Cubano and Cuban-seed Dominican Criollo long leaf tobaccos.

The result is a full-bodied, spicy cigar that will send your palate into a haze of confusion as the complexities of earth, white pepper, and oak perfectly meet with hints of sugarcane, espresso, and cedar to create a balanced, smooth and yet robust experience. This blend may simply be the best
5 Vegas Limitada released to date.

The 2009 Limitada is a nice looking cigar with it’s Corojo wrapper – smooth to the touch but firm when it’s held. Cutting the torpedo was a cinch and I was ready to light this bad boy. Initial puffs were of a nutty flavor with hints of spice. It was medium-bodied in strength with a variety of flavors. The blended filler does give it a unique taste.

The draw was nice, but felt just a bit tight. No big clouds of white smoke, but just enough to appreciate it’s aroma. Did notice the burn to be a little uneven towards the end of the first third. The ash held firm for 2 inches before tapping off – it was a well constructed cigar. No flavor change in the second third of the stick – very consistent.

The draw did open up in the final third of the cigar as I enjoyed viewing the big cloud of smoke between puffs. The cap remained firm and in-place. No unraveling of any kind. And the taste remained consistent to the end – medium bodied and not overpowering. Overall, it was a very enjoyable cigar but the $10.00/stick price point might deter some away from it.
