I recently purchased a box of Havana Reserves. What a disappointment. I have been smoking cigars forever, from Muniemakers to Montecristos, but for years I have stuck with RyJ 1875's as a best buy, day-to-day cigar. I go through a box per week, along with other brands that I sample from time to time.
The Havana Reserve was a new one to me. I opened one, liked the aroma, lit it, and prepared to enjoy.
The damned thing had a plug the size of a .45 caliber cartridge. It burned shaggily and down one side.
Well, I mused, these things happen. But it happened again. And again. Out of a full box, I think only three, maybe four, were adequately made. I've never experienced such inept construction in a premium cigar.
I'll keep on with the 1875's, but the Havana Reserve is a dog.
