As perhaps the most recognized name in cigars worldwide, Cohiba has been an icon for what many consider to be “the best.” Debuting in Cuba shortly after Castro came to power, Cohiba cigars were made from the country’s top 1% of leaves harvested and the cigars were reserved for diplomatic gifts and government VIP’s. In fact, speculation exists that the brand was initially made for Fidel Castro who considered the blend his favorite. Cohiba Black was introduced at the 2006 RTDA show in Las Vegas.
