| Although a slight departure from his standard, full-bodied cigars, Don Pepin Garcia’s Tabacos Baez is an excellent blend; the only cigar he produced with a Connecticut wrapper.
Pepin Garcia has become one of the best manufacturers in the industry. His blends are consistent from box to box, while also being completely different from one another. This array creates a unique experience for each enthusiast, every time a cigar is lit. Pepin’s cigars all expel a special flavor and aroma due to his secret blending and fermentation processes, all of which were handed down since his family’s beginnings in Cuba. Tabacos Baez hails from Nicaragua and contains Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long leaf tobaccos. These leaves are bound by an oily, but dark Connecticut wrapper, which allows the cigar to develop less of a peppery flavor Pepin is usually known for. The filler and binder combination still provide the earthy flavors reminiscent of Old Havana which are noticeable in all of Pepin’s cigars, but Tabacoss Baez is a bit smoother and more mellow then his other blends. Vegas Cubanas is currently manufactured at Pepin’s famed Miami factory, El Rey de Los Habanos. Known for producing cigars for big names like Tatuaje and Padilla Miami, it is no surprise that Vegas Cubanas also hails from this factory. The secret behind this special cigar dates back to 1999; the year the filler tobaccos used to create Vegas Cubanas were cultivated. Vegas Cubanas is medium-bodied and contains a mixture of Cuban-seed Corojo long-filler hailing from Nicaragua. Since these leaves were cultivated in 1999, they are well aged, bringing a pleasant mellow aftertaste to the palate. To complete this blend, it is wrapped with a Habano Rosado Claro leaf that allows the cigar to produce complex flavors of earth and leather, which mix well with the spice and peppery nuances left by the Corojo filler.
